Acts 1:8, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NKJV)

These are the words of Jesus to his disciples before He ascended into heaven. As the disciples tarried in prayer with one accord, the Holy Spirit came upon them with power just as Jesus promised. The Acts of the Apostles is the really the record of the Acts of the Holy Spirit that was manifested through the disciples of Jesus. It was this dynamic power of the Holy Spirit working in them, that emboldened them to preach the word, endowed them with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, enabled them to perform miraculous signs and wonders, which resulted in thousands being added to the church, and the gospel being preached to the ends of the world.

The church, more than ever before, needs the same anointing of the Holy Spirit today. The Holy Spirit is our teacher (John 14:26), the one who convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgement, (John 16:7-8), the One who enables us to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8), who guides us into all truth (John 16:13), bestows us with spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12: 7-11), helps us in our weakness, intercedes on our behalf (Romans 8:26), manifests the fruit of the Spirit in our lives (Galatians 5:22-23), and gives us hope for life eternal (Romans 8:11).

As the church of today, if we can be united in love and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, we will certainly experience and demonstrate the powerful workings of the Holy Spirit in and through us. Only then will the multitudes flock into the Kingdom of God. 

The word of God reminds us in Zechariah 4:6, "'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.'" (NKJV)

    Amen ! Lord , without You we are nothing. Fill us Lord with Your Holy Spirit and empower us with your power so that Your will and plan for us can be accomplished for Your glory ! Thanks dear for God's Word that inspires us to live for Him ! God bless !

The Church Defined # 20 – Influencers Click here for the Audio Version -   Influencers Matthew 5:13 , “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” (ESV) Jesus’ analogy of salt was an extremely profound one. A huge jar of unused salt will benefit no one. However, even a little salt added to any dish will make a big difference to it’s taste. The presence of salt will not go unnoticed, so also it’s absence. If salt loses its saltiness it will become totally useless. Jesus referred to us as the ‘salt of the earth’ to help us understand that we the church are chosen to be a godly influence in this world. While we are happy to congregate as ‘salt’ somehow, we have failed to let this saltiness penetrate into every area of our lives and various spheres of society. The Church Defined # 19 – Disciple Makers Click here for the Audio Version: Disciple Makers Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (NKJV) The mandate to ‘make disciples’ of all nations, has to a large extent, become the Great Omission in the Great Commission. The directive of Jesus is not to make ‘converts’ but to make ‘disciples.’ According to Wikipedia, “A disciple in biblical terms is one who is a dedicated follower of Jesus. A disciple in the ancient biblical world actively imitated both the life and teaching of the master.
